Our Wedding | Getting Ready

Now that our one year anniversary is upon us, it’s time to share a plethora of images from our wedding day in a full recap of so many of our favorite parts of THE BEST DAY EVER. Truly, April 1, 2017 was the most perfect day I could have ever imagined or dreamt of, and I am so, so deeply grateful for every single moment of it. It was the day that Rob and I became husband and wife, the day we vowed forever together, the day that we felt Christ’s presence so clearly, a day filled with endless joy and love, and a day that we were able to share the happiest moment of our lives with our beloved family and friends. It’s nearly impossible to put into words just how surreal and special it was to celebrate our love and marriage with those who have loved, supported, encouraged, prayed for, and celebrated us so well – and to have all of those family members and friends together in one place to celebrate us. The Lord’s presence and joy was so evident, and it was the most spectacular, joyous, beautiful, giddy, fun, and love-filled day imaginable. And I married Rob!!!

I’m so excited to share more details, images, and stories from our wedding day, and thank you for celebrating us along the way, too! In every decision and design, we tried to stay true to ourselves, to glorify God in all that we did, and to love our people well. At the end of the day, all that truly mattered was that we were married, that we brought glory to God through it all, and that we got to celebrate this joyous occasion with our nearest and dearest!

I made sure to build a “bridal bouquet reveal” with my dear friend Alana of Serendipity Designs on our wedding day… and this is my face when Alana walked in with the prettiest, happiest, most “me” bouquet I could have ever asked for or imagined!! It was such a special moment with such a special friend, and boy oh boy was my bouquet flawless!!

The morning of our wedding was something I had unabashedly looked forward to for so long! I wanted to be surrounded by my mom and best friends, savoring a calm and sweet morning, being pampered, sipping mimosas, and getting excited to walk down the aisle!! Our wedding morning was just that and more, and I was unbelievably grateful when I woke up to a sunny, warm, gorgeous Spring day, too. My bridesmaids, mom, and I arrived to the Merrimon Wynne and got started on hair and makeup. I’ll never forget being surrounded by my best friends, eagerly anticipating every moment of our wedding day. I was more calm than I thought I’d be (I was a touch nervous!), but I was so, so very excited!!

It was pretty surreal putting on my wedding gown – it was my turn to be the bride!!! Before our wedding day, only my mom, my sister, and Rob’s mom had ever seen my gown, and it was a complete surprise to everyone else. I custom built my gown with the addition of a romantic horsehair tulle skirt to give the bottom of my gown more movement + romanticism, and I couldn’t wait to show it off to my girls – and my groom!! These are some of the sweetest moments of the day: a quiet few minutes with my mom and sister before the big bridesmaid reveal!

My incredible grandma crocheted me this stunning, intricate garter for my wedding day, and it definitely has a place of honor on our wedding gallery wall now that our wedding has come and gone! My grandma wasn’t able to travel from Ohio and join us for our wedding, but she was most certainly with us in spirit in so many ways, especially as I wore this beautiful masterpiece she lovingly made for me. As soon as we got engaged, Grandma started on this garter right away, since it took countless hours (and a lot of eye strain!) to handcraft. I know so much love and prayers were poured into every miniscule stitch, and it is something that I will treasure forever. She even tied it with a Carolina blue ribbon, both for my alma mater and for my “something blue.” It was the perfect bridal accessory on our wedding day, for sure.

My sister, Bridgette, has been my best friend my entire life, and sharing in these quiet, joyful, treasured moments on my wedding day with my mom and my sister are absolutely priceless to me. My family is so, so close, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. These two gorgeous women have loved me unconditionally, prayed for me/us so well, and have impacted my life for the better in countless ways. I look up to my sweet mama and my sister so much, and they are the best of the best. I love these moments and the images captured of us getting ready!

April 1, 2017 was undoubtedly the best day of our lives. It’s the day Rob and I became husband and wife. It’s the day we were surrounded by those that we love the most. It’s the day we felt God’s holy presence so very profoundly. It’s the day that simply abounded in love and joy and excitement from start to finish. It’s the day we vowed our lives and our love to each other, forever. It’s the day I had dreamed of my whole life, and it far exceeded any of my expectations or dreams. It’s the day we celebrated our new marriage with our family and friends together in one place. It’s the day that was 74 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze, as I had earnestly prayed for throughout our engagement. Simply put, it was perfect.
