Lucy & Matt’s Joyful Summertime Wedding at Donovan Manor

Joy upon joy!! It was an extraordinary day in every way as Lucy & Matt were married in July!! What a dream it was in every way. From the classic, timeless, happy summer design to the fresh palette of powder blue, white, & butter yellow to the personalized, thoughtful details to the lush flowers to the wildly sentimental & heartfelt moments… it was an unforgettable day to remember! Stunning, joy-filled, sincere, intentional, bursting with love, and oh so meaningful, all in one!

Lucy & Matt’s wedding was classic, elegant, and timeless yet polished, fresh, and fun with a sincere focus on celebration, gathering, sentimentality, faith, and heartfelt hospitality. It reflected Lucy & Matt so beautifully, and you can just feel the immense joy, celebration, and love for these two newlyweds!

Sneak peeks from the incomparable Ally & Bobby Photography are here from Lucy and Matt’s wedding day, and I couldn’t wait to share these images overflowing with so much emotion, love, and giddiness. What an immense thrill it is to see the moments and unfolding joy of their wedding day captured so exquisitely and with such emotion! Matt and Lucy were so unbelievably excited to be married to one another, and you can see and feel this in every single image and in every moment of the entire wedding day. It was truly most heartfelt, joyful, fun, and beautiful wedding day for the new Mr. and Mrs. Messenger, who bring so much joy into the lives of everyone who knows & loves them!

“But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” | 1 Corinthians 2:9

This invitation suite has my heart and is filled with some really gorgeous, special details! We worked with the amazingly talented The Cottage Shop on a custom watercolor of Lucy & Matt’s wedding venue, Donovan Manor, for the envelope liner, even having Hayley paint yellow flowers at the front of the venue since Lucy & Matt’s wedding flowers incorporated this sunny summer shade. I also love the custom LM duogram that made its way into their save the date and wedding day stationery, too. Lucy & Matt’s entire wedding suite was the perfect shade of powder blue and white, featured the daintiest border, was tied together with the prettiest blue satin ribbon, and included so many meaningful touches. I loved pulling in one of their wedding linens for styling (so cohesive!), popping in the perfect velvet ring box to show of their rings, and bringing it all together with white, powder blue, and yellow flowers (and vintage stamps!) to really tell their story!

When this is the rain plan… it hardly even feels like a rain plan! With a week-long forecast of heavy rain, we moved Lucy & Matt’s ceremony indoors to the beautiful grand ballroom at Donovan Manor — which hardly feels like a sacrifice at all! These towering, gracious windows overlooking the rose garden let the light shine through and made for the most idyllic indoor backdrop, and the statement chandeliers made us fall in long with the space upon our first tour last year.

Lucy & Matt’s ceremony focus was on their marriage, their faith, and their love, and this custom wooden cross adorned with lush flowers was the most meaningful addition to their ceremony space and really set the tone for their ceremony’s focus. And since their ceremony was moved indoors, we were able to use all of the towering reception flowers and lush floral centerpieces to really frame the space and add even more romantic flowers to highlight Lucy & Matt’s ceremony, along with these gorgeous light wood & linen upholstered chairs. It couldn’t have been a sweeter ceremony with such a sincere focus and celebration on what matters the most.

As Lucy told me after their wedding, “this was even more perfect!” — which is exactly what I hope to hear and absolutely made my day. And truly, at the end of the day, all that really, really matters is that you’re married & get to celebrate your love and new marriage surrounded by all of your loved ones!!

This photo, above, is one of my all-time favorite wedding photos, and I simultaneously beamed and teared up seeing the absolute JOY between Matt and Lucy as they were pronounced husband and wife. Hallelujah & thank you, Lord!

A hydrangea dream!! We took a classic powder blue & white palette and freshened it up for summertime with the softest pop of butter yellow to inject a little more dimension, whimsy, and visual interest — and this sunny yellow was carried through in Lucy & Matt’s lemonade stand (Matt’s favorite drink!), as well. Lucy absolutely adores lush hydrangeas, and this favorite flower makes quite the appearance in the floral arrangements, towering bar urns, ceremony flowers & cross, matchboxes, and cocktail napkins.

I am seriously smitten with Lucy & Matt’s entire wedding day and their wedding design, as well! I loved bringing it all to life for them today: all of the powder blue, white, & butter yellow details, the romantic & lush flowers and greenery paired with taper candles, the stunning linens + table settings + day-of stationery, all of the bar details (the blue & white signage, gorgeous gold floral frames, two cocktail napkin designs, & their matchboxes featuring the LM duogram), the gorgeous statement vintage-piped wedding cake encircled with a meadow of flowers, and the incredibly heartfelt, personalized, & meaningful details (the sweetest nods to their faith, their love story, their beloved families, & their fun, vivacious personalities!). Pure magic for the sweetest couple imaginable!!

Oh happy day – Lucy and Matt are officially married! What an absolutely incredible, beautiful, joyful day it was as we celebrated the newlyweds in the company of their family and friends!

We love you, Mr. and Mrs. Messenger! Thank you for being the easiest to celebrate, and so heartfelt many congratulations!!

So much more to come from this incredibly special day celebrating Lucy & Matt, and deepest sincere thanks to the most phenomenal team!
