Our Wedding | Our Ceremony

Oh happy day!! Our ceremony was the most important part of our wedding day, and we tried to really focus on making it meaningful and reflective of our love – and most importantly, on Christ’s love for us and for all. We wanted to infuse our personalities into the details as well as keep things reverent and holy. From seeing Rob’s face as I walked towards him, to our vows, to the song choices (Star Wars for the groomsmen!), to the wedding party prayer, to our pastor’s homily, to serving communion together as our first act as husband and wife… we loved our ceremony and all that it symbolized. It was the perfect 74 degrees and sunny day for our outdoor ceremony (I literally prayed it would be 74 and sunny throughout our engagement!), and we said our sacred vows underneath the sunshine, slight breeze, and a wooden cross adorned with Spanish moss and flowers. And ribbon steamers popping high as we were pronounced husband and wife!!

Becoming Rob’s wife was and is the absolute greatest part of it all – and to be surrounded by our loved ones – well, it’s just indescribable. Grateful and ecstatic doesn’t do it justice!!

Unparalled anticipation, sheer excitement, and unabashed joy. When I think about that moment – THE moment – of walking down the aisle to my soon-to-be husband, those memories are still so vivid. I remember hearing Canon in D swelling through the door as it opened; I remember tears spilling down my cheeks the moment I stepped through the door; I remember holding onto my dad and his pure happiness; I remember locking eyes with my groom; I remember Rob waving the sweetest little wave (scroll through to see!!) to me; I remember beaming and having the biggest smile of my life on my face. It was time to MARRY ROB!!A&BStephanieRobWedding44A&BStephanieRobWedding46A&BStephanieRobWedding84A&BStephanieRobWedding83A&BStephanieRobWedding86A&BStephanieRobWedding89A&BStephanieRobWedding90

The ceremony was the most important part of our wedding day, and we tried to really focus on making it meaningful and reflective of our love – and most importantly, on Christ’s love for us and for all. We wanted to infuse our personalities into the details as well as keep things reverent and holy. We chose for our first act as husband and wife to be to serve communion to all of our 200 wedding guests, and it was one of the best and most meaningful decisions we could have made. Having that brief, intimate moment with each of our guests is a highlight from our day, especially since everyone came forward with so much excitement and whispered well wishes for us as we were able to serve bread + wine to them. Our family and friends still mention this as one of the most vivid and heartfelt things they’ve ever seen at a wedding, which is what we hoped for.

Our wedding party prayer was another extremely vivid and special moment of our ceremony! Our bridesmaids and groomsmen are friends that play a pivotal role in our lives, and many of them have helped shape our faiths throughout the years, too. We had them gather together and pray over us in the middle of our ceremony, and their heartfelt, intimate prayers were so moving and necessary. It was a true reminder of what our wedding day was about: lifelong marriage, keeping Christ at the forefront, and having friends and family encourage us and celebrate our love.

Best moment ever, hand’s down. And officially married!! Our ceremony is still crystal clear to me, and marrying Rob is the greatest blessing imaginable. And as we were pronounced “Mr. and Mrs. Rob and Stephanie Shaul” and recessed down the aisle, our family and friends popped confetti streamers in celebration and jubilation to Ben Rector’s “White Dress.” Seriously, best moment ever!!!
