Crafting Christmas cocktails together was included on our 2020 Christmas to-do list, and we kicked off the holiday season with a Christmas cocktail party for two at home with Gingerbread Old Fashioneds! Rob and I dressed up in cocktail attire (as we would in normal years for holiday soirées!), put on our record player with a Christmas album, made several of our favorite holiday appetizers, small bites, and desserts, and got to work perfecting our own holiday cocktail recipe. We love old fashioneds, and adding in a seasonal gingerbread twist felt like the right thing to do! I also love playing around with fun garnishes, and a luxardo cherry, dried orange slice, sprig of rosemary, and a brown sugar rim were the perfect accompaniments for this gingerbread old fashioned.
We’ll take any excuse, especially this year, to make an ordinary day something a bit more magical and memorable. It was a really fun evening together and felt so celebratory and special, despite it being a cocktail party for just two people. It was definitely worth it to dress up, do something a bit outside of the ordinary, and still celebrate this season we love so much. What are you all up to this holiday season? What are you favorite seasonal cocktails this time of year?! If you make this gingerbread old fashioned, you’ll have to let me know – and cheers!
