Recipe: Grapefruit Gimlets

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Crafting seasonal cocktails is a really fun date night activity (as seen with our gingerbread old fashioneds)! Inspired by the Spring season, vibrant and fresh fruit flavors, and colorful citrus, we decided to add a grapefruit twist to a tried and true cocktail favorite: the gimlet. It couldn’t be easier (three ingredients!) to make a grapefruit gimlet, and the flavors meld together beautifully. I also, of course, love the sweet pinky-peach color of this grapefruit gimlet, and we already know these cocktails will be a favorite this spring and summer. It’s refreshing, a little tart and a smidge sweet, and just plain delicious. Making cocktails together really steps up our date nights and feels so celebratory… and it’s the perfect excuse to break out all of the beautiful glassware I collect!

For one serving (so easy to double!) of a grapefruit gimlet:

Vigorously shake 1.5 oz of gin, 1.5 oz of fresh squeezed and strained grapefruit juice, and 1 oz of simple syrup with ice. Rim your glass with sugar and grapefruit zest and then top your grapefruit gimlet with ice and a grapefruit garnish.

We’ll take any excuse, especially this year, to make an ordinary day something a bit more magical and memorable. What are you favorite seasonal cocktails this time of year?! I love anything with the fresh fruits of the season and fresh herbs, like mint, thyme, and rosemary. If you make this grapefruit gimlet, you’ll have to let me know – and cheers!
