These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

One of my very best friends, Allie, is moving back to North Carolina in just a couple days (don’t even get me started on how much I’m going to miss her in DC!), and I jumped at the chance to throw her one last hurrah – her going-away party with her nearest and dearest DC friends. I quickly settled on a theme, a la The Sound of Music’s iconic song, “Brown paper pckages tied up with string; these are a few of my favorite things.” I went off of these lyrics when crafting the theme and design of this moving away party. Not only were Allie’s favorite people going to attend, but we’d surround her with all of her favorite things – food, decorations, color scheme, drinks, etc. This was not hard to do, as Allie has countless favorite things!

I made sure to have lots of pink & gold & animal print, tons of Allie’s favorite foods (chicken nuggets, guacamole, red velvet Georgetown cupcakes, cranberry Stilton cheese, apple things, pumpkin things, etc), all of Allie’s favorite drinks (mulled red wine, margaritas, apple sangria), a photobooth, some fun games, and lots of other little details that represented Allie + how much we’ll all miss her! I really wanted this party to encompass all of her very favorite things, and I think we did just that! Now, if only I could convince her to stay in DC…
