January 2024 was an excellent month for reading, as I was able to read 14 books in a month – far more than my average 8 or 9 books each month! I always chronicle each and every book I read on my Instagram stories & saved on my story highlights under 2024 Books, and I share my book rating and a review & my thoughts on every book there, too. I also keep up with all of my books in real time on Goodreads, if you’re interested in following along on Goodreads.
January often seems to be a month where I read more books than usual (whereas I tent to read very few books in December with all the Christmas festivities happening & all of our holiday travel). Rob was also sick for a week in January, so I was able to tear through an inordinate amount of books (a pace of one book a day for that week!). We have our winter beach week coming up soon, and I’d imagine I’ll be able to do a good amount of reading while we’re at the coast, as well. I’ve been busy queueing up my books at the library and getting my beach week stack of books ready!
Here are snapshots, ratings, and reviews of all fourteen books I read in January, which include five non-fiction books. I don’t think too many of these will make my top books of 2024 list, other than Adam Grant’s new book, Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things, which I absolutely loved.
I’d love to hear from you: are there any recent reads of yours that have stood out (for better or for worse)? What book are you most excited to read next? I am very much looking forward to reading Bright Young Women, The Women, Family Family, The Phoenix Crown, and How to Know a Person.
And, as always, my blog’s archives are full of book recommendations! The most current ones at my Best Books of 2023 and my Best Books of 2022, if you need a place to start – along with when & how I read. And I’m always very, very glad to send you specific book recommendations, too!

Wow! I inspired to read more!
