Oh happy, happy day!! I am overjoyed to share stories and film images from Corinne and Thomas’ classic, elegant summertime wedding in the mountains of Virginia, set at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville. Each and every image exquisitely captures the love, joy, and happiness from Corinne and Thomas’ wedding day!! Y’all, it was just the best.
I distinctly remember when Corinne first inquired with me – a year ago to the day of their new wedding date. You can read more about Corinne and Thomas, plus their postponed wedding plans, on Corinne’s bride spotlight here! When we chatted about what they wanted their wedding to look like and (more importantly) feel like, she said that they wanted a classic, timeless, elegant Virginia wedding filled with meaningful details and sweet touches that really spoke to who she and Thomas are and that reflected their faith. They wanted their guests to feel loved and for their faith – and Jesus’ magnificent love – to be felt and known. Yes, yes, yes! Their hearts and desire for their wedding (and marriage) aligned so beautifully with mine, and getting to know these two and their families and friends has been a complete dream come true — I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter, more gracious, more genuine couple to work with and walk with throughout the past year (through some big hurdles, as you can imagine)!
And what a day August 8, 2020 was!! From start to finish, it was all that they wanted — and more. There was so much pure joy, excitement, and love at every turn as these two became husband and wife and as they were celebrated from near and far by their community. It was such a beautiful reflection of Corinne and Thomas, their love, and God’s unconditional love, as well. A million congrats, Mr. and Mrs. King!! You two are so loved.
Corinne’s heirloom bridal details are overflowing with significance and are almost too pretty for words! This embroidered handkerchief has been passed down through generations in her family and has so much meaning. I love that Corinne chose her bridal look to reflect her personality and who she is, and every thoughtful detail made their wedding day so personalized and meaningful to them!
Corinne is the picture of bridal elegance, classic beauty, and timeless grace on their wedding day, and this breathtaking getting ready room (designed by Thomas Jefferson himself!) was the perfect backdrop as she prepared to be married. She radiates beauty, anticipation, and excitement mere moments before marrying her groom!
Classic elegance at its best! I have a thing for black and white checkered marble, and when I saw this marble porch floor at Farmington Country Club for the first time, I couldn’t wait for portraits out here! Navy gowns paired with white bouquets plus dapper black tuxes is such a dreamy combination, and when you add in a mountainside lawn ceremony overflowing with the sweetest moments… what a timeless, classic, joyful, and meaningful celebration it was.
What a privilege it was to witness a love like Corinne and Thomas’, as well as the incredible friendships and family that surrounded them on their wedding day! Bridesmaid prayers are a definite favorite part of a wedding day, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as Corinne was prayed over by her best friends mere moments before marrying Thomas. The groomsmen did the same thing for Thomas, which was so touching and heartfelt. These are the precious moments and memories that are treasured for a lifetime.
Joy upon joy!! This moment is so anticipated, isn’t it?! What a privilege and utter joy it is to witness the start of a beautiful marriage between Thomas and Corinne as their vows were exchanged and promises made to one another. It’s truly something special! This is what a wedding day is truly about: glorifying God in your union and celebrating the joyous start of strong marriages in the company of your treasured family and friends. Corinne and Thomas’ faith – and their love for one another – is so pure and beautiful!
Blue and white floral toile gorgeousness for this outdoor cocktail hour overlooking the Virginia mountains! When we started wedding planning a year ago, one of the first things I wanted to incorporate were these beautiful statement blue and white floral toile linens! They’re one of my favorites, and I knew they would be perfect for an outdoor cocktail hour on the lawn. The linen is a little too bold for all of their dinner tables in the ballroom, but I always like to make cocktail hour linens memorable, noticeable, and with a wow factor. These toile linens did just that: they tie in the color palette beautifully throughout all of the wedding details and design, they’re high impact yet entirely cohesive, they pop against the lawn, the exterior of the venue, and the mountain view, and they really bring that classic, elegant, yet fresh wow factor.
Linens really add a lot to your wedding design, and never underestimate how important the perfect linen can be! Corinne shared that one of her favorite elements of their wedding day design ended up being their linens, something she’d never given much thought to before – and I love that! I’m still swooning over how pretty it all looked on their wedding day paired with an al fresco cocktail hour, delicious hors d’oeuvres, their signature cocktail (appropriately named The Plot Twist!), magical market lights, and their families and friends.
There’s just something so romantic and sophisticated about vintage classic cars, don’t you think? I adore the timeless, romantic, elevated touch that they bring to a wedding day, and a classic car is the perfect backdrop for portraits, dreamy moments, and an intimate drive with your love. This classic 1940 Senior Packard was such an elegant touch to Corinne and Thomas’ day, both for a few private moments right after their ceremony and for their getaway at the end of the night, post-sparkler exit.
Have you ever seen a more picturesque location for a first dance?! It was so sweet to witness their sheer giddiness and amazing dance moves outside on the dance floor with market lights overhead and the rolling Virginia mountains in the distance.
Reception reveals with the bride and groom are always a personal highlight of my day! We had spent an entire year planning and designing what every single detail of their wedding would look and feel like, so it’s pretty surreal to see those details and design plans come to life in person! It’s so special to have an intimate moment where the bride and groom can take in the entire room, empty of their guests, savor all of the details, and really see all of those plans come to life! I love this sweet moment alone with my couples, and seeing their reactions is just icing on the cake of an already incredible day!
Ginger jars and blue and white details are a forever favorite! Corinne and Thomas wanted a timeless, elegant wedding that exuded classic Virginia vibes and highlighted their country club venue and mountainside setting. We thoughtfully selected and designed every single detail to bring that vision to life, and their reception (and their entire wedding day!) turned out so beautifully and was so reflective of the two of them. Above all, their reception was hospitable, welcoming, and joyful as they celebrated their marriage with their treasured family and friends!
Wedding cake dreams… but make it covid-safe, of course! This stunner of a wedding cake was a sight to behold, and we added a luxe plexiglass cover to it so that it could be safely and beautifully displayed. With a dusty blue satin linen, perfectly placed white blooms with greenery, and the backdrop of such an exquisite antique mirror, Corinne and Thomas’ wedding cake was as beautiful as it was delicious!
It’s not easy planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic and needing to pivot plans and dreams at the last minute, but these two have been so very, very gracious, flexible, and understanding every step of the way. They were originally supposed to get married in early June, and we made the hard decision that it was better to postpone their wedding date a couple months for the health and safety of their guests. And even with an August wedding date, we’ve needed to pivot many original plans to accommodate for the health and safety of their families, friends, and vendors. Among countless other precautions, we moved their entire wedding outdoors, minus a one hour dinner in the country club ballroom, where guests were seated with their families and tables were 6+ feet apart. Their ceremony, cocktail hour, and dance floor and band were all outside to keep the day as seamless yet safe as we possibly could, and the guest count was at 25% capacity. At the end of the day, even with some changes and updates, it was the sweetest, most extraordinary, most joyful day as Corinne and Thomas became husband and wife.
Is there anything better than an utterly scrumptious dinner menu, heartfelt toasts that bring the happiest tears to your eyes, cutting into and enjoying your dream wedding cake, first dances under the market lights, a dessert bar, late night snacks, and a sparkler exit with your family and friends?! There were so many personalized, creative, fun, and delicious touches that we incorporated to love and welcome Corinne and Thomas’ guests well!
Endless congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. King! What a complete dream this magnificent was. You’re married, and I can only hope and pray that it was the most marvelous, joyful, stunning, love-filled, meaningful, and fun day as we celebrated your new marriage!! It’s hard to put into words just how much I love these two and their families and friends… and how dearly loved Corinne and Thomas clearly are. It was a truly epic (safe) celebration of love from start to finish, and I was deeply, deeply honored to have been a part of it!
I’m incredibly thankful to have been their wedding planner and couldn’t have pulled it off without our incredible (and very flexible and accommodating) team. I can’t thank these stellar creative partners and vendors enough for safely bringing this magical wedding day to life, even amidst a pandemic!
