I hope you are having a wonderful day, friends! How was your weekend?! As I say all the time, Spring is my absolute favorite, and we have been relishing all of the sunny, warm (pollen-filled!) days around here. Our dogwood tree in the backyard is just about to bloom, we’ve been loving our daily walks and discovering new trails, and some exciting things are on the horizon around these parts. Here’s a roundup of 5 favorite things from the last couple weeks that are particularly noteworthy…
blue & white floral top | Florals, blue & white, puff sleeves… this perfectly feminine spring top was love at first sight! I love every detail of this floral top and bought it as soon as I saw it, something I don’t typically do. I can’t wait to wear it all spring and summer! I’m also a bit obsessed with this blue and white hydrangea bow scrunchie and this blue floral headband! Florals for Spring… so addictive and beautiful.
floral bathing suit | On a similar note, I bought this blush floral bathing suit recently, and I l-o-v-e it!! The happy floral details, the sweet ruffles… not to mention the excellent fit, fabric, and quality. I haven’t bought a new bathing suit since our honeymoon (four years ago!), so it was definitely time for an upgrade. I’m also thrilled our neighborhood pool will be re-opening this year and foresee several trips to both the beach and the pool this summer!
planting herbs & flowers | I’ve spent some time over the last couple weeks getting some herbs, flowers, and rose bushes for our yard and for our pots, including a very productive trip to the farmer’s market. My collection of pots is ever growing (this is my newest dusty blue ceramic find!), and we also finally got these white Chippendale planters for our front porch. I added coral rose bushes to the planters and then basil, rosemary, and mint to our smaller herb pots for the deck. These are the three herbs we use the most for cooking and in cocktails, and they’re the three I always try to keep on hand during the spring and summer months.
Easter | We hosted my parents on our deck for Easter this year, and it was the most beautiful, wonderful day in every way! They live just about 2.5 hours away, and having them in town for the day was simply the best. We’re all almost fully vaccinated now, and I cannot wait to see them even more soon!! For breakfast on the deck, I made sausage balls, served lots of fresh fruit, and baked my favorite almond croissants (straight from the Trader Joe’s freezer section; they are insanely delicious!). For lunch, we had a fairly traditional Easter spread: green bean casserole, hash brown casserole, roasted asparagus with lemon, and crescent rolls. We topped off all of the sides with Rob’s smoked ribs and a pork tenderloin, which he had spent the day smoking on his grill! I also made key lime pie topped with homemade whipped cream and dark chocolate peanut butter cookies topped with Maldon sea salt. We were so full… and our hearts were so filled as we spent time together in the sunshine and, most importantly, celebrated the resurrection of Christ! PS: I wore this dusty blue sundress with the sweetest details and accents on it!
articles club in the park | I have waxed poetic for years about my love of our articles club, and it truly, truly is one of my highlights of every single month – and has been since 2015! We’ve taken our articles club back to the park now that it’s so much warmer out and the sun doesn’t set it much later. A picnic in the park, the most beautiful view of downtown Raleigh (the sunset!), a safe and happy way to gather together, and scintillating discussion with some really wise, thoughtful, hilarious, and wonderful friends – what could be better?!
What about you?! Have you discovered or tried anything new and noteworthy over the past few weeks?! Do any of these five resonate with you? Do tell, if so!
