ONE
This week kicked off to a great started since I had a snow day! The federal government announced its closure the evening of my birthday (Sunday), and Monday was a glorious and much-needed day without work. I may have been excited about a snow day, but let me tell you – I was really not excited about the actual snow part. Shocker, really, since I’m a Southerner who adores snow! But enough is enough, and I’m just ready for Spring and sunshine and warmth and the beach at this point… Anyone else out there with me on this?!

Mother Nature is gracing us with 60 degree weather on Saturday, which I plan to fully enjoy! This is one of my only weekends in DC until mid-May, so it’ll be nice to hang out with friends and enjoy the city before a lot of (fabulous) travel over the coming months. I have a little date night with a dear friend & her baby on Friday, which I’m rather looking forward to! I also picked up my first order of 2014 for wedding invitation calligraphy this week, and I’m going to tackle a huge chunk of that this weekend – so excited! My friends and I are also going for a hike at Great Falls National Park, along with a picnic. And I’ll cap off Saturday with a dinner date at Cheesetique in Shirlington! Sunday I’m grabbing brunch (bottomless omelet and waffle bar!) at Dogwood Tavern in Falls Church with a group of friends, going for a much-needed run, and working on some more calligraphy and Stephanie Scholl Events projects. Fun!!

I recently stumbled upon this recipe in my quest to eat as many brussel sprouts as possible. Doesn’t it look simply divine?! It’s caramelized brussel sprout & bacon fettuccine alfredo, and my mouth waters every time I look at these pictures and read through the recipe. It’s definitely on my list of next dishes to cook!

Southern Weddings does it again, y’all! Have you checked out their version of March Madness – the 2014 Mason-Dixon Madness, all centered around delectable Southern food?! Their bracket is chock-full of all of the South’s finest food and drink, competing to claim the prize as the ultimate Southern food. You can play along, too, by helping vote for your favorites here! I have strong pulls for: BBQ, chicken & waffles, biscuits, mac n cheese, banana pudding, & sweet tea! Whew, I’m hungry just voting…
FIVE
I may say this a lot, but this is something that is just so important! I am a firm believe that in so much of your life, you choose to be happy and choose to be joyful! This is a such a simple – yet powerful – reminder that so much of your outlook on life and how you live is a choice. A choice to choose happiness and to find the best in all that you can… it’s not always easy but, in my opinion, it’s vitally important! I love this bright reminder to choose happiness, in all situations (:
Loved this week as well fellow March b-day gal! Mine was on Monday so having the day off was a fabulous gift haha Hope you have a great weekend!
Happy belated birthday to you! Enjoy your weekend!!
Oh wow, that fettuccine with Brussels sprouts looks incredible. I can’t wait to delve into the Southern bracket – too funny! Visiting for the first time from the Link-Up. Have a great weekend!
