On Tuesday, I woke up to a sweet, sweet surprise – an official snow day! Thank you, federal government + overnight snowfall! As a Southerner, I am absolutely giddy when it snows (seriously)… I raced to the window and was so happy to see a winter white world outside. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, it was refreshing to have an unexpected and oh so welcome break from work to enjoy the day and the Christmas season.

Surrounded by the fluffy, big flakes falling outside our picture window & the twinkling Christmas lights around the living room, I was in heaven. It was glorious watching Christmas movies (Elf & Love Actually) at 10am on a Tuesday morning while sipping hot chocolate and re-reading Southern Weddings! I went on a walk around the neighborhood (I really did have snowflakes that stayed on my nose and eyelashes!) and took in the scenery on this peaceful winter morning.

Thankfully it was simply one of those beautiful snows where it’s not too icy, and the roads were pretty clear by late afternoon. I ventured to Target for a much needed excursion, and then I went to dinner and a Christmas concert at church with my small group! A truly magnificent snow day, indeed.
