Lauren + Grant’s Goldsboro Wedding

2018 was a year filled with truly incredible, gorgeous, special weddings — that’s for sure! Lauren and Grant’s Goldsboro, North Carolina wedding was on for the books, and I am so excited to share the images from their wedding today. In every single way, this was one wildly meaningful, Christ-centered, stunning, joy-filled wedding for a couple whom I adore tremendously. Lauren and Grant chose to be married in their hometown, and they also chose to hold their reception in the newly renovated and historic Firehouse in downtown Goldsboro. Not only were they the very first wedding in this space (so cool!), but the owners of the venue are dear friends of the bride and groom. It felt like such a hometown celebration of love in all the best ways, and what a monumental, happy, and beautiful day it was as Lauren and Grant became Mr. and Mrs. Sasser in front of all of their loved ones!

Lauren reached out to me days after they were engaged (which was an unbelievable honor + blessing!), and we’ve been busy planning and designing their dream wedding day for almost a year now. Lauren and Grant have been dating for over six years, and they were so, so unbelievably ecstatic to marry one another – and to celebrate their loved with their treasured family and friends. If you know these two at all, you know just how important their faith is to them, as well as how much they value the relationships in their lives. Lauren and Grant exude graciousness, love, and fun, and their wedding day was so beautiful, so joyous, and filled with an incredible amount of love. Who they are as individuals and as a couple was reflected in each and every detail and element of design that we planned and brought to life, and these two wanted a day that brought full glory to God, that celebrated their commitment, love, and vows to one another, and that generously celebrated their family and friends.

There were countless memorable moments throughout the day that are so vivid in my memory, and it was so sweet to witness so much love and excitement surrounding these two. Their bridesmaids and groomsmen are such amazing friends to them, and you can easily tell just how loved they are. From all of the girls getting ready together to opening the most generous gifts from her girls to seeing her bridesmaids’ reactions when Lauren revealed her stunning wedding dress to her best friends to Lauren and her dad’s first look to Lauren and Grant praying together before the ceremony (without seeing one another!) to Lauren reading aloud her card from Grant to the bridesmaids prayer before the ceremony and then to their incredible ceremony and reception… these moments and memories will be ingrained in their minds forever – and captured exquisitely by Ally and Bobby and also by Muddy Trail Films! (These two husband and wife teams are truly incomparable, and I adore when we get to work together. Having vendors who love their couples and love their jobs so well is where the magic happens, and it’s always an honor to work with these two teams!) The entire day was truly overflowing with excitement and joy, and it’s such a sweet reminder of what weddings are really about: marriage and all of the days that are to come – together as husband and wife.

This is just a recap of some of my favorite parts of their wedding day, but you can be sure that we have so many more stories, moments, and memories to share, as it was such an amazing day from start to finish. It was also pretty awesome to be the very first wedding or event in the brand-new cocktail hour and reception space at The Firehouse in downtown Goldsboro. This venue was completely renovated, and it was the perfect spot to bring their wedding the life. I couldn’t be more in love with this wedding design we dreamed up over the last year for Lauren + Grant’s epic wedding! Lots of organic touches, soft greys with plenty of white, brass, and black, abundant greenery, gray taper candles, and so many personalized, meaningful touches scattered throughout. And filling this space with almost 200 of their closest family and friends?! Priceless. It was the most perfect fall day – sunshine, a cool breeze, and the most magnificent sunset to cap it all off. They ended the evening with Krispy Kreme donuts (their fave!) and a romantic, jubilant sparkler exit! It was a marvelous night in every way!! Endless thanks to a dream team of vendors who worked tirelessly to bring this all to life (including my three wonderful assistants!).

Happy, happy wedding and MARRIAGE to the incredible Mr. and Mrs. Sasser! Goodness, as you can see, I couldn’t begin to narrow down images from their marvelous wedding day. I am so, so grateful to Lauren and Grant for entrusting their wedding to me, and it was such a deep joy and honor to be a part of such an exciting season and joyful day. These two are so deeply love by countless people, and it’s easy to see why — their hearts of gold are so evident, and they love big.

Cheers to the Sassers, and wishing you two a lifetime of love, laughter, and joy! xoxox

It takes a village, and I am so deeply grateful to every person who poured their heart into bringing this wedding to life for a couple that we all love and adore so much.

Shaul Family Year in Review 2018

The Shaul Family
established 2017

The best thing about 2018: We celebrated one year of marriage (getting close to two, now!) and bought a house that we LOVE!

2018 Highlights:

  • We bought our first house! After losing out on a few houses, we finally found the perfect house for us — and it was ours the day it came on the market! We closed on our first house in early June and moved in mere minutes later. We absolutely love, love, love our house and everything about it: the layout, the tall ceilings and huge windows, the open kitchen, room to host 16+ people for a dinner party, a separate office for my work, a guest bedroom, a garage, a laundry room, so much outdoor space and a beautiful porch and deck, and living right on a lake! We feel so, so fortunate to own this house and to get to live here, and we couldn’t love it more. It’s been so much to transform it into our home, and it’s felt like home since the day we moved in. We’ve hosted countless friends and family already (a serious dream of mine!), and we are so thankful for the memories already created and the people who have filled our home!
  • I’m coming up on my fifth year of Stephanie Shaul Events (five year anniversary in January!), which is still a little surreal for me! 2018 was a really amazing year overall for my work, and I feel incredibly fortunate that this once-dream of mine has really blossomed and supported me/us for so long now. I adore the couples and families that I’ve gotten to work with, and I also really value the flexibility that owning my own business has given me.
  • Rob turned 30 and simultaneously switched careers! It was an exciting couple months for him… as we were buying our house, he realized just how much he loved the entire process. Shortly thereafter, Rob began taking the real estate course after work two nights a week, passed both of his licensing exams on the first try (he’s amazing!), put in his two weeks notice at his former job, and dove fully into his new career as a real estate broker!! He’s had several open houses and a few showings already, loves his new firm, and is so excited for what’s in store for his new work. (Let me know if you are local and need a real estate broker!)
  • Lots of family time throughout the year! We don’t have any family living here in Raleigh, so we are very intentional about traveling to visit our family. We celebrated my sister’s Masters graduation from NYU in New York City this Spring, had a huge family reunion with my mom’s side of the family at a state park, spent lots of time in Ohio visiting Rob’s parents, our nephew and niece, and lots of my extended family, went to our beloved Ocean Isle Beach for a family beach trip with my family, remembered the lives of Rob’s grandparents in Buffalo and got to go to a Bills football game, and several more memorable and fun trips! We’re already planning where we’d like to go in 2019…!
  • Despite many amazing memories this year, there were a fair share of challenges and harder moments. My amazing grandpa passed away this summer after a quick but very hard battle with stage 4 cancer. I thankfully was able to visit him in Ohio before he passed away, and it was an immense blessing to visit with him (and my grandma!) for several days. I cherish and treasure those precious final moments together. We were able to celebrate and remember his remarkable life together as a family — Grandpa was a truly incredible man of God, the best grandpa/friend, a loving husband to my grandma for 60+ years, and so much more. He is surely missed, especially this holiday season!
  • Rob and I celebrated our first anniversary with a long weekend on the coast of beautiful Beaufort, North Carolina! We walked on the beach (the off season is amazing!), chased after wild horses on a remote coastal island, ate lots of seafood, reminisced on our first year of marriage, walked all over the beautiful little town, and enjoyed a sunny weekend away together.
  • We love our church, Vintage! We’ve been members for almost two years now, serve together on the welcome/greeting and communion team, and are leaders in our weekly community group. We have loved the friendships formed in our community group and sharing life with these friends, and we’re so grateful for our church home. I regularly volunteer at Raleigh Rescue Mission and the Children’s Development Center there, where I play, read, run around, and get to love on the preschoolers there. I have loved my time with these sweet kiddos — it makes my day with how excited they get when I arrive on Tuesday mornings!

Favorite first year of marriage memories:

the adventure of buying our first home together, day trips to the beach and to the mountains, cooking dinners together, visiting wineries and being wine club members at our favorite winery, hosting friends for game nights, lots of long conversations and laughter on the couch, double dates, serving together at church, testing new cocktail recipes, Sundays spent watching football, enjoying Shaul family Christmas traditions, and celebrating our second married Christmas!

Thank you for your support, friends! Wishing you and yours a love-filled year!
